What does our boat rental in Ibiza with captain include?

The price shown is final and includes absolutely everything you need for a day at sea: boat, captain, fuel, and a complimentary drinks pack. There will be no additional costs or last-minute surprises.

The complimentary drinks pack includes a cooler with ice, 6 cans of soda, and 6 cans of beer.

You can also bring your own food and drinks. If you would like us to prepare them, you can add them as an option during the booking process.

We also offer the option of purchasing cancellation insurance due to bad weather. If the conditions are unsuitable on the day of your rental, we will refund your payment. If you do not purchase this insurance, you can change the date, but you will not be eligible for a refund.

For afternoon or full-day rentals, you can add the option to enjoy the sunset from the boat. We will watch the beautiful sunset and return to port 15 minutes later.

The sunset viewing location can be discussed with the captain. The best locations are usually in front of Café del Mar, Cala des Moro or Cala Gracioneta.

Why rent a boat in Ibiza with a skipper?

If you choose a boat rental in Ibiza with a skipper, you can enjoy the coastline of this beautiful Mediterranean island aboard a larger, more powerful vessel than a standard boat that doesn’t require a license. Plus, it will be captained by an experienced Open Boats professional: in other words, you won’t have to worry about a thing, just enjoy an unforgettable day.

Choosing a skippered rental has many advantages, as our captains can command larger and better-equipped boats and know the best routes and places to visit in Ibiza and its surroundings.

Furthermore, having a captain provides added security, as a professional and experienced individual will be at the helm: someone who knows what to do—and what not to do—at all times, and who is also responsible for the safety of everyone on board.

What do I need to get a yacht charter in Ibiza with a skipper?

Anyone, regardless of age, can charter our boats over 6 meters in length with a skipper, as the skipper is responsible for the vessel and the safety of those on board. The quickest, easiest, and most direct way to book a boat with a skipper is through our website. You’ll need to confirm your booking by paying 50% of the rental price in advance; the remaining balance is due upon arrival at the port on the day of your reservation, before boarding.

Since the skipper is fully responsible for the boat, a security deposit is not required for this type of charter.

Which boats with a skipper can I rent with Open Boats?

At Open Boats, we give you three options for renting a boat in San Antonio with a skipper, both of which are fully-equipped, luxury vessels:

Karnic 601:

It has a length of 6.5 meters and a capacity for 6 passengers plus 1 captain, making it a medium-sized boat that meets the needs of a group of friends for a day at sea.
Its layout is designed to make the most of the deck space, with two large sunbathing areas at the bow and stern. It also features a freshwater shower and a small cabin for storing personal belongings.

Bayliner VR6:

Purchased completely new in 2022, this is a strikingly beautiful boat that is fully equipped with extras: wooden floor, music system and a range of high-spec features such as extra-comfort chairs, cup-holders and premium materials… It has sunbathing areas at the bow and the stern, and a central table.

The boat has a sporty silhouette with no cabin to maximize space on deck.

It is 7 metres in length and has a 225 HP engine that provides high performance with low fuel consumption. Its maximum capacity is 9 people (+ the captain).

Chaparral 246:

At 7.5 metres in length with a 280 HP engine, this is a larger boat with more room on deck than the Bayliner VR6, making it ideal for large groups and families.

It is a boat without a cabin, with two sunbathing areas at bow and stern, a swim platform, and a large music system.

Its maximum capacity is also 10 people (+ the captain).

All the boats we offer for rental at Open Boats have the best equipment and guarantee maximum comfort and top-level features, as well as all the safety measures needed for risk-free travel at sea.

Who are our skippers?

Two top professionals captain our boats here at Open Boats. David and Pablo are two young captains whose friendliness, courtesy and wealth of experience at sea set them apart. You’ll feel totally safe in their hands, knowing that there is a seasoned professional at the helm who knows the coast of Ibiza inside and out.

Both Pablo and David live in Ibiza and know better than anybody which places are worth visiting on the Ibizan coast and its surroundings: they’ll show you its best-kept secrets and the most well-hidden, peaceful coves… With them, you’ll visit places of great beauty that can only be reached by sea, spectacular caves, impressive cliffs, and areas of crystal-clear water that are great for snorkelling.

Frequent questions:

What is the price of a boat rental in Ibiza with a skipper?

You can rent a boat with a skipper from 350 euros (half a day) or 500 euros (full day). The cost of hiring the skipper (captain) is 80 euros (half a day) or 150 euros (full day).

What can I do in a boat with a captain?

The captain will take you to stunning places on the coast of Ibiza, show you the best beaches and coves that can only be reached by sea, and accompany you to caves and islets with fascinating histories… You can sunbathe on board, listen to music, eat and drink on the boat, do activities like snorkelling or swimming, watch the sunset…

Which parts of Ibiza can I visit in one of these boats?

While you can choose the route you’d like to take, the most popular itineraries are:

  1. travelling along the western coast of Ibiza (Bassa, Conta, Tarida, Es Vedrá and Atlantis beaches)
  2. a trip along the northern coast of Ibiza (Salada, Portinax and Es Portisol beaches, and the Margarita islands)
  3. visiting Formentera
How many people can travel in the boat?

Up to 9 people, not counting the captain.

How can I make a booking with Open Boats?

Boat reservations are made through our website: this is the quickest, easiest and cheapest way to book. Once you’ve made your booking, contact us over WhatsApp, telephone or email to let us know that you need a captain, and we’ll include it in your reservation. It’s that simple.

How long does the experience last?

The timings for boat rentals with a skipper are as follows:

  • half-day trip (4 hours): can be in the morning (from 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m.) or in the afternoon (from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.)
  • Full-day trip (8 hours): you choose the timetable (from 11:00 a.m. to 7 p.m., 12:00 p.m. to 8 p.m., or similar)
What should I do if I have a problem or emergency at sea?

Given that the boat will be controlled by a skipper, he has the knowledge and experience to handle any incident that occurs at sea. Follow his instructions at all times.

Can I tell the captain the route I’d like to take?

Of course, although we advise being open to suggestions: our captains know the area inside and out, and can recommend the most interesting places to visit.

Do you have to be an adult to rent one of these boats?

As the captain will take charge of everything on board, and is responsible for the boat and all its occupants, anyone can rent a boat with a skipper, whether they are over 18 or not.

Is this type of boat bigger than others?

Generally, yes: by choosing a boat piloted by a skipper, you’ll have access to larger boats that you couldn’t normally use by yourself.

What responsibilities does the boat’s skipper have?

The skipper is responsible for the safety of everyone on board, for piloting the boat and for guiding the passengers through any problem that may arise.
