Spring is finally here and with it come thoughts of getting away to the sun and doing something a bit different. The most westerly Balearic island is a great option for a short break, and now is the perfect time to visit. As always, Ibiza offers spectacular scenery, sun and the beauty of Mediterranean sunsets, but there is also a wealth of other things to do in Ibiza in May. All this without the need for long-haul flights or using up your annual holiday savings (here we tell you how much spending money you’ll need for Ibiza).
As well as the obligatory visit to Cala Comte and the other wonders of the Ibizan coast, make a note of some of the unmissable events taking place on the island throughout May. Pen and paper ready? Here we go.
In the second week of May, Ibiza travels back in time with the Medieval Fair and Festival in the capital’s old town, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Dalt Vila. Visitors are transported to the Middle Ages by performances, markets, crafts and cuisine from the era, all within Dalt Vila’s fortified walls. It’s the perfect excuse to get to know Ibiza Town, wandering Dalt Vila’s winding streets or the cosmopolitan boulevards of the New Town. This is the weekend when the tourist season really kicks off, so make the most of this more relaxed experience before the masses arrive. If there are already a lot of visitors in the capital, you can always hire a boat and explore the coast on the other side of the island.
So note down those dates: with these events and so many other things to do in Ibiza in May, plan ahead to avoid missing out! Then kick back and enjoy a very Mediterranean May…
